[1] This marble plaque is part of a series of dedications by Athenian archons in the Cave of Apollo on the north face of the Athenian acropolis. For details, see IG II³ 4, 128. [2] This may be Herodes Atticus of Marathon, the famous orator and benefactor, who was archon in AD 126/7, or Tiberius Claudius Attalos of Sphettos, archon in 140/1, or Claudius Annius Atticus Bradua of Marathon, archon in 187/8.
