[1] This is one of a series of pilasters commemorating torch races (lampadedromiai) at Rhamnous, on which see IG II³ 4, 317. The inscription is on the abacus of a rectangular capital which is decorated with a floral design. There are three sockets on top which each held a bronze torch and a fourth socket on the bottom, which secured the capital to its pillar.
