[1] This fragmentary rounded base is a choregic dedication commemorating a victory in dithyrambic competitions at the Thargelia (cf. IG II³ 4, 475 with notes). There is anathyrosis for attaching another block to the right. This is probably the last inscription set up prior to the fixed tribe-pairing arrangement, under which Oineis competed with Aiantis, and Leontis alongside Aigeis. The first dedication under the new system is IG II³ 4, 480 (365/4 BC). [2] The name of the sponsor, the pipe-player, director, and archon cannot be reconstructed.
