[1] This is a dedication by a certain Xenophon, who is perhaps identical with Xenophon the priest who, as he writes, "also" dedicated IG II³ 4, 1297 to Zeus Phratrios at Merenda. “Of victory” (nikes) has been restored at the end of l. 1 in the translation (beginning of l. 1 in the Greek text), but this is doubtful (cf. I. Bultrighini, ZPE 186, 2013, 141-51, who plausibly suggests "statue" (eikona), cf. Demi, 266-9). There is accordingly no longer good reason to categorise this inscription among the dedications commemorating competitive victories. [2] A sanctuary of Apollo Pythios is otherwise unattested at Myrrhinous, but the cults of Apollo Pythios/Patroos and Zeus Phratrios were linked, cf. Bultrighini 2013, 148.
