Dedication commemorating victories in Panhellenic festivals

Diophanes^[1] son of Empedion victory at the Isthmus. Two children of Empedion, Athenians, have been victorious, (5) Diophanes as a youth (ageneios) at the Isthmus in the pankration; and Progonos (has won) crowns (?). They showed the strength of their hands.

[1] This is a (metrical, ll. 4-6) dedication by Diophanes son of Empedion commemorating his victory at the Isthmian Games in the "pankration" (a type of mix of wrestling and boxing). L. 6 is obscurely worded, but perhaps commemorates victories by Diophanes’ brother, named Progonos. Alternatively, "progonos" might have the connotation "ancestor", and "crowns", steph[anous], might be an allusion to Diophanes' brother Stephanos, who may also be attested at SEG 34.127, 40-41. It is difficult, however, to construe the line in this sense. The top of the base has sockets for a statue.
