This is one of a number of pieces of evidence for cult of unnamed heroines and heroes in the Agora (see the full inventory at Agora XVIII 313, cf. S. I. Rotroff, Hesp. 47, 1978, 204). The objects of the cult may have been the occupants of archaic tombs in the area (Agora XIV 119-21).
