Honours for the ephebes of 204/3 and their officers

In the archonship of [Apollodoros (203/2)], in the third prytany, of AiantisXII,
for which . . . [of OeIX] was secretary. On the - of Boedromion,
the - of the prytany. Council in the Panathenaic stadium.
Of the presiding committee Nikostratos son of Menemachos of Acharnai was putting to the vote, and
(5) his fellow presiding committee members. The Council and the People decided.
Sosige[nes] . . . proposed: since the ephebes of the archonship of
Diodotos (204/3) initiated (arxamenoi) the proper sacrifices from the hearth (hestias) in the city hall (prutaneiōi) and accomplished what is inscribed (eggraphas) there in accordance with the
policy (proairesin) of the People, and participated in the processions, of the Semnai
(10) and of Iakchos, adhering with exceptional discipline to the traditions,
and lifted (?) (ēranto) the bovines in the sacrifice, and removed (apedēmēsan) to the sanctuary in
Eleusis, in order that everything relating to the gods should be handled piously, and rendered
service (leleitourgēkasin) also in the Mysteries, as they were instructed, and were continuously
well-disciplined in the gymnasia, and ran all the torch races
(15) and competed in the other competitions well and in an orderly manner,
and made the demonstration (apodeixin) in arms at the Epitaphia, and took care of
the guarding (phulakēs) of the cities, obeying the generals and
their superintendent (kosmētei), and rendered service also in the Hephaisteion,
and carried through in a well-disciplined manner their training (askēsin) with weapons, with nothing[1] being allocated
(20) to them by the People, and as regards their nautical training (meletei tei kata ton ploun) they made . . . . . . the demonstration to the Council in arms pursuant to
the laws and decrees relating to the usage of war (polemikēn chreian) and fitted themselves to become good future contenders (agōnistas) on behalf of their fatherland

(25) . . . prepared to perform the exit sacrifices (exitētēria) in order that
. . . in good order (eukosmias) as also their cloaks (chlamudas) and their other clothing; in order therefore that there should always be an incentive (ephamillon) for the ephebes,
knowing that those who are obedient to those elected to secure good discipline (eutaxian) have been honoured, for good fortune, the Council shall decide, that the
(30) presiding committee allotted for the forthcoming Assembly shall place these matters on the agenda, and submit
the opinion of the Council to the People, that it seems good to the Council
to praise those who were ephebes in the archonship of Diodotos (204/3), and crown them with a gold crown
for the [good will and discipline (eutaxias)] and love of honour (philotimias) which they have continually shown
towards the Council and the People; and to announce the crowns at the City
(35) Dionysia and Panathenaia and Eleusinia at the gymnastic competitions;
and the generals and the treasurer of the military fund shall take care of
the announcement and making of the crowns; and they shall have front seats (proedrian) in all the competitions which the city puts on; and they shall have permission
to set up a painting (pinakos) wherever they may choose; and to praise also the physical trainer (paidotribēn),
