[1] This is a fourth-century choregic dedication commemorating a victory in the dithyrambic competition at the City Dionysia (cf. IG II³ 4, 460 with notes). Euthydemos, father of the politician Stratokles and member of the richest family of Diomeia, served twice as syntrierach with his own father before and in 356/5 BC (Davies, APF 12938). The reconstruction of his name as well as the year of the dedication is possible thanks to IG II² 2318, ll. 293-94, which records the results of dithyrambic and dramatic competitions at the City Dionysia on a year-by-year basis (see B. W. Mills and S. D. Olson in Inscriptional Records for the Dramatic Festivals in Athens, 2012, p. 45 and 57).
