[1] This Doric epistyle block is part of a monumental fourth-century choregic dedication commemorating a victory in the dithyrambic competition at the City Dionysia (cf. IG II³ 4, 460 with notes). The precise reconstruction of this monument remains uncertain, though it may have been in the form of a small temple (naiskos). The monument might have originally stood at the Street of the Tripods, close to the monument of Lysikrates (IG II³ 4, 460). These are the earliest two substantially surviving choregic dedications to take such a monumental form. Cf. A. Choremi-Spetsieri, in W.
