[1] This is a marble funerary lekythos (see AIUK 4.6 (BM, funerary), no. 44). It commemorates Ariston and Aristokleia, although the relief depicts three figures: Ariston who is standing faces right extending his hand (dexiosis) to Aristokleia who is seated on a chair and dressed in a chiton. Between them stands an unidentified woman who faces Aristokleia. Perhaps Ariston and the unidentified woman are Aristokleia's parents.
