[1] This fragment derives from a large base for the Emperor Hadrian (r. 117-138 AD). If the epithet "Olympios" is correctly restored, it would indicate a date after 128/9 AD and probably at or after the consecration of the Temple of Olympian Zeus in 132 AD (see IG II² 3290 with notes). On Hadrian and his relationship with Athens, see IG II² 5185 with notes. The name of the dedicator, which might be a city, group, or individual, is lost.
