[1] This is one of a number of short inscriptions specifying offerings required, most but not all of them associated with the Asklepieia on the south slope of the Acropolis and in the Piraeus. See IG II² 4962, with notes. This inscription should perhaps be associated with the Asklepieion on the south slope of the acropolis, cf. the offering to Mnemosyne in IG II² 4962, Face B. For a different suggestion, see the note to CGRN 95. Paus. 1.2.5 recorded a shrine of Mnemosyne between the Dipylon Gate and the Agora. Restoration of cakes in the plural, [areste]ra[s], is indicated by spacing; see now Agora XVIII. Restoration of Mnemosyne in the genitive, "(scil. altar) of Mnemosyne" ([Mne]mosyne[s]) rather than the dative, "to Mnemosyne" ([Mne]mosyne[i]) is suggested by the parallels, IG II³ 4, 1747, 1748, etc.
