(This statue of) the God Hadrian, their personal benefactor, (was erected by) the Council and People of the Keramietans^[1] through the works-chairmen (ergepistatōn) and envoys, (5) Hieron son of Myonides Hermodoros^[2] and Hermodoros son of Apollonides and Euandros son of Epaphrodeitos, in the priesthood of Statius Quadratus^[3]

[1] This statue base is part of a group erected for Emperor Hadrian (r. 117-138 AD) in the precinct of the Temple of Olympian Zeus by delegations from cities throughout the eastern Roman Empire to celebrate Hadrian's consecration of the temple in 132 AD (see IG II² 3290 with notes). The explicit reference to Hadrian as a god in l. 1 and the fact that the priest is not Claudius Attikos, indicate that this base was erected only after Hadrian’s death in 138 AD. The dedicator, Keramos, was located in the province of Asia. No particular interactions with Hadrian are attested. [2] The name Hermodoros appears to have been accidentally inscribed twice. [3] Statius Quadratus, the priest of Olympian Zeus and a prominent Roman senator, also erected a statue of Hadrian in the precinct (IG II² 3319).
