[1] This fragment derives from a statue base for the emperor Tiberius (r. 14-37 AD). The brief titulature perhaps indicates that the monument was erected posthumously. The name of the authority that erected the monument is not preserved. It was seen sometime before 1835 by K. S. Pittakis in the Church of Agia Mavra (L'ancienne Athènes, 1835, 513), which was once located on Odos Athinas, in central Athens, north of Monastiraki (A. Mommsen, Athenae Christianae, 1868, 140).
