[1] This poros fragment of a statue base was found in a Christian basilica on the Ilissos River. It supported a statue of Livia, wife of Augustus and mother of Tiberius. The titulature indicates a date after 14 AD, when she received the nomen Julia. The fact that she is referred to as a goddess might indicate a date after her formal deification at Rome in 42 AD, but she was worshipped in Athens long before this. The findspot might indicate some connection with the sanctuary of Artemis at nearby Agrai. The identification of the dedicator as a market inspector (agoranomos) is speculative. The inscription has sometimes been misinterpreted as a statue base connected with the emperor Julian (r. 361-363), but this is precluded by the letter forms, which indicate a date in the early first century AD (see SEG 35.146).
