[1] This inscription honoured the emperors Diocletian and Maximian, during their period of joint rule (286-305 AD). See IG II² 5, 13265 with notes. The erector bears the status designation “the mighty” (kratistos) used in Greek for Roman prominent equestrians and senators, but gradually phased out in the third and fourth centuries in favour of more precise translations of Latin status designations. The inscription is known only from a transcript produced by Andreas Moustoxydis in the 19th century. The nature of the monument is unclear; it seems too narrow to have been the base for a pair of statues.
