Gods. In the archonship of Symmachos (188/7), in the twelfth prytany, of Antiochis, for which Archikles son of Theodoros of Thorikos^VI was secretary. On the sixteenth of Skirophorion, (5) the seventeenth of the prytany. [Assembly] . . . in the theatre, transferred from . . . Of the presiding committee - son of -on of Rhamnous was putting to the vote, and his fellow presiding committee members. The Council and the People decided. [1] The honorand stood in some relation to king Ptolemy (V Epiphanes, 204-180 BC). In the early years of his reign, Egypt had been unstable and weak because of the minority of the king, aged only six on his accession, and had not been in a position to respond to Athens' appeal for help against Philip V in 200 BC (Habicht, Athens, 196). This is the earliest in a series of decrees honouring courtiers of Ptolemy V which show Athens re-establishing its traditional close ties. Cf. C. Habicht, Cl. Ant. 11 (1992), 77; Athens, 221.
