Archippos of Thasos granted citizenship

Relief Decree 1 [ ... ?] for which Mnesiphilos son of Mneson of Phaleron was secretary (334/3). On the eleventh of Maimakterion, the twenty-first of the prytany. Principal Assembly. Of the presiding committee (proedrōn) (5) -otheos of Kydantidai or Kydathenaion was putting to the vote. The People decided. - son of -ophron of Lakiadai proposed: concerning what Archippos[1] says and what the Council has proposed about him, the People shall resolve: to praise Archippos the [son?] of Archi[ppos?] (?), (10) because he is a good man concerning the city of Athens, both now and in past time, and does what good is in his power; and to crown Archippos with a gold crown of 1,000 drachmas for his [manly virtue (andragathias)] (15) towards the Athenians; and since his [father] [was a friend of the Athenians] and the People [gave] him [the citizenship], Archippos [shall be an Athenian, himself and] [his descendants], and he shall choose the tribe and deme and phratry (20) [to which he wishes to belong]; and the prytany (prutaneis) [of HippothontisVIII] shall put the vote about him to the next Assembly . . . . . .

(25) . . . from the People’s fund for expenditure on decrees; and to invite Archippos to dinner in the city hall (prutaneion) tomorrow. Inserted later: he shall be permitted to join a phratry except those which the laws prohibit.[2]
