[1] This is the upper right corner of an allotment machine, kleroterion. On these machines see IG II³ 4, 106 with notes. On this machine there are traces of the tops of four out of an original five columns of slots under a slightly sunken panel probably to receive a label. The inscription in the architrave is in the same hand as the identical inscription on IG II³ 4, 106. It was perhaps originally dedicated on the acropolis, like IG II³ 4, 106, and made its way later, like many old inscriptions (see e.g. IG I³ 82) , to the area of the church of St Demetrios Katephores (cf. with a slightly different interpretation of the findspot, Dow, 215).
