[1] This is probably a dedication commemorating the tribe’s victory in the anthippasia, on which see IG II³ 4 252, found nearby. The inscription is at the right-hand edge of an elaborate relief, now largely lost, which depicted a large lion, facing left – a visual pun on the name of the tribe of Leontis. On the reverse of the plaque, a bearded and helmeted horseman is shown riding to the right, with four youthful riders partially preserved in front of him. The date is based on the style of the relief, which seems to be intermediate between the reliefs on IG II² 6217 and IG II³ 4, 252.
