IG II³ 4 421 Date: 165/6 AD

In the archonship of Sextus (165/6 AD),^[1] in the superintendentship of Herennius Cornelius of Azenia. 5 Flavius Proculus, having been gymnasiarch in Anthesterion^[2] dedicated the torch, in the [30th year of the?] trainership 10 of Abaskantos son of Eumolpos of Kephisia.^[3]

[1] On this archonship cf. Follet, Athènes, 215 and Byrne, Roman Citizens, 509. In the top of the base there is a cutting, probably for a torch. On the right side there is a relief apparently depicting a vase and a palm branch, cf. IG II³ 4, 406 with notes. [2] Flavius Proculus was ephebic gymnasiarch in the month Anthesterion in 165/6 (cf. IG II² 1990, n. 7). The superintendent also appears in the ephebic catalogue from this year (IG II² 2090). On the ephebic dedications of the Hellenistic and Roman periods see IG II³ 4, 357 with n. 1.
