[1] On the theatre of Dionysos as the venue of the Dionysia of the deme Eleusis see I Eleusis 53, with notes. This dedication, which perhaps derives from the associated sanctuary, is unusual among Classical dedications to Dionysos as being by a woman and notable in that she identifies as daughter of a man from Pithos, a deme away from Eleusis. It can be dated only approximately by letter forms and by the possibility that the dedicant's father was the Aischraios who was councillor for Kekropis in ca. 360-340 BC, Agora XV 20, l. 22. There is a cutting in the top for a votive.
