Herm in honour of the hierophant who saved the sacred objects of the Mysteries

I Eleusis 494 Date: 171-176 AD

[I, . . ., took] the mystic treasury of secrets (arrhētōn thēsauron mustikon) to Athens in the hateful war.[1] For this the Kekropidai[2] have crowned me with headbands (tainiais) and have dedicated me in the [sacred precinct (temenei)] of the Mother’s (Mētros) (?) everlasting ceremony (teletēs).[3]
