The Council and the People decided. Aigeis^II held the prytany. Neokleides was secretary (424/3?).^[1] Hagnodemos was chairman. Kallias proposed: (5) for the priestess of Athena Nike the fifty drachmas written on the stele, the payment officers (kōlakretas) in office in the month Thargelion (10) shall pay (them) to the priestess of Athena Nike . . .

[1] The inscription is on the back of IG I³ 35. A Neokleides was secretary and the prytany can be restored as Aigeis in IG I³ 75, of 424/3 BC. While it cannot be ruled out that ours is a different Neokleides, probably this decree also dates to the prytany of Aigeis in 424/3. There is accordingly most likely a gap of well over a decade between this decree and IG I³ 35, which established the priesthood. Perhaps the works provided for in that decree had only now advanced to the point where the appointment of the new priestess was implemented, or perhaps she had been appointed immediately, and an issue about the timing of her remuneration had only arisen after some years (under financial pressures created by the Peloponnesian War?).
