[1] This is one of three extant decrees honouring the general Archandros of Eleusis, the other two being I Rhamnous 27 (fragmentary decree of the paroikoi stationed at Rhamnous) and I Rhamnous 407 (well-preserved decree of deme Rhamnous and Athenian residents), which mainly relates to the year 248/7 BC, but which also mentions an earlier generalship (most likely in 250/49 or 249/8). Since the actions of the paroikoi in 248/7 are specifically mentioned in I Rhamnous 407, there is some attraction in supposing that I Rhamnous 27 relates to the same year, though it might belong to the earlier generalship. This decree, however, appears to have been passed by all Athenians at Rhamnous, i.e. demesmen and other citizens, which would seem to be the same collective as was responsible for I Rhamnous 407. This perhaps suggests that it belongs to Archandros' earlier generalship. One of the commissioners for the erection of the stele, Lysikleides son of Nikostratos of Rhamnous, performed the same function in I Rhamnous 407.
