[1] This inscription records a dedication made at Eleusis by the Panhellenes from the offerings of first fruits (aparche). Flavius Amphikles was archon of the Panhellenion in 177-180, 181-184, or 185-188 AD (A. J. Spawforth and S. Walker, JHS 75, 1985, 85). He may be identical with Amphikles of Chalkis, a sophist and student of Herodes Atticus (Philostr. Vit. Soph. 2.8.1-2, 2.10.1-2) On the Panhellenion, see IG II³ 4, 215 with notes.
