. . . [... to those despatched] by the People, always saying and doing what is in the interests
of the People, and at every opportunity he has been [mindful of the city],
being of service to those who requested it
and demonstrating both the [love of honour (philotimian) and] the
(5) good will that he has for the city; in order therefore that the People
may be seen to give thanks worthy of the benefactions
[it receives], for good fortune, the Council shall decide: that the
presiding committee (proedrous) allotted to preside in the People
at the next Assembly . . . (10) letter traces
uncertain number of lines lost
. . . the Athenian People;
and he shall be Athenian and his descendants,
and enrol in the tribe and deme and phratry that he wishes
(15) according to the law; and the prytany shall put
the vote about him to the People at the coming Assembly;
and the [court presidents (thesmothetas)] shall submit the scrutiny (dokimasian) of the
citizenship for him to the court according to the law;
and the prytany secretary shall inscribe this decree
(20) on a stone stele [and stand it] [on the acropolis]; and for the inscription of the stele . . .
