Honours for the priest of Zeus Soter

In the archonship of Lysitheides (272/1), in the first prytany,
of -, for which Semonides son of Timesias of SounionVI was secretary. On the eleventh of Hekatombaion,
the eleventh of the prytany. Principal Assembly. Of the presiding
(5) committee T- son of - of - was putting to the vote
and his fellow presiding committee members. The Council and People decided.
Promenes son of Promenes of Kephale[1] proposed: concerning
what the priest of Zeus Soter[2] reports about the
sacrifices (tōn hierōn) which he made for the health of the Council to Zeus
(10) Soter and Athena Soteira, for good
fortune, the Council shall decide: that the presiding committee (proedrous) allotted to preside in the People at
the next Assembly shall introduce the priest
of Zeus Soter to the People as an item of the sacred business and
(15) shall put it on the agenda, and submit the opinion of the Council
to the People, that it seems good to the Council that the Council and People
accept the good things which the priest reports
occurred in the sacrifices which he made
for the health and preservation of the Council and the People;
(20) and since the priest made the entry sacrifices (eisitētēria) for the preservation of the Council and the People well
and with love of honour (philotimōs), to praise the priest of Zeus
Soter - son of - of Kerameis, and crown
him with a foliage crown for his piety
(25) to the gods and love of honour (philotimias) towards
the Council and People; and the prytany secretary
shall inscribe this decree on a stone
stele and stand it [by (pros)] the stoa of Zeus;
and for inscribing the stele the board of administrators (tous epi tēi dioikēsei) shall allocate . . .
