Decree of Halai Araphenides honouring two non-members of the deme
AIO 2588 Date: ca. 350-325 BC
. . . [the demesmen shall decide] [to praise them and] (1)[crown] each of
them with a foliage crown
for their justice
and love of honour (philotimias) towards
(5)the deme of the Halaians;
and they shall have a seat of honour (proedrian) [in all] the competitions
[of the Halaians?];
and the religious officials in office
(10) and the demarch shall
allocate to each
of them a portion;
and the demarch -as
shall inscribe this decree
(15)on a stone stele
and stand it in the
sanctuary of
Artemis Tauropolos.[1]
