Decree of cavalry honouring treasurers of Athena

[Ant]iphon son of Antisthenes of Teithras proposed: since the treasurers
of the goddess in the archonship
of Hegemachos (300/299) have taken care
(5) [on behalf of?] the cavalry commanders (hipparchōn),
so that the cavalry (hippeis) obtained from the People
the grain (siton) that was owed
to them and in all other respects
continued acting in the
(10) interests of the cavalry
with love of honour (philotimōs), for good fortune,
the cavalry shall decide, to praise
the treasurers of the goddess
of the archonship of Hegemachos (300/299) and
(15) crown them with a gold
crown for the excellence (aretēs) and
love of honour (philotimias) which they continue
to show to the cavalry
and the Athenian People;
(20) and to write up this decree and
the crown and the names
of the treasurers on a stone stele
and stand it on the acropolis;
and the cost of the stele
(25) and the inscribing that may
accrue shall be paid by the
cavalry commanders.[1]
