[1] Theophilos was hoplite general ca. 30 BC and eponymous archon ca. 25 BC (see Schmalz, pp. 312-13). [2] Schmalz suggested that Theophilos’ role as epimeletes prytaneiou, "manager of the city hall", which is otherwise unattested, was connected to a restoration of the prytaneion, which was located not far from the Street of the Tripods and from the findspot of this inscription (Paus. 1.18.3; cf. most recently E. S. Kroustales, Grammateion 2, 2013, 11-16, with map p. 16). In the top there is a hole for an insert.
