This is a dedication of the prytany of Erechtheis, which had won the competition for the best prytany in its year in office, cf. IG I³ 515, with note. Like that dedication and IG II³ 4, 54 this one will have been set up originally in the Erechtheion. The archon can be restored as Demophilos (381/0) or Theophilos (348/7). The earlier date is more likely, as from 357/6 BC the wording on prytany dedications usually referred to the crowning of the prytany by the People; and IG II³ 4, 29 by the prytany of Pandionis, and dating to 348/7, should imply that Erechtheis was not victorious in the same year. See further AIO Papers 9 sect. 4 (SEG 68.74). There is a cutting in the unsmoothed top of the base for insertion of a votive.
