Decree of the orgeones [of Bendis?] (337/6 BC)

The orgeones decided. Olympiodoros [1] proposed. Since the religious officials (hieropoioi)[2] in the archonship of Phrynichos (337/6) managed well and with love of honour (philotimōs) (5) the procession and the meat- distribution[3] and everything else, the orgeones shall resolve to praise them and crown them with a gold crown of three hundred drachmas, (10) Antiphanes son of Antisthenes of Kytherros, Nausiphilos son of Nausinikos of Kephale, Aristomenes son of Mosch- of –, for their love of honour (philotimias) towards the orgeones; and this decree (15) shall be inscribed on a stone stele and set up in the sanctuary of [Bendis] by [the secretary] Thallos.[4]
