Concerning public doctors

In the archonship of Diogeiton (268/7), the twelfth
prytany, of DemetriasII, in which
Theodotos son of Theophilos of KeiriadaiX was
secretary. On the twenty-third (ogdoei met' eikadas) of Skirophorion.
(5) Principal Assembly. Of the presiding committee Diodoros
son of Epichares of Kopros was putting to the vote
and his fellow presiding committee members. The People decided.
Akrotimos son of Aischias of Ikarion proposed:
since it is traditional for
(10) public doctors (iatrois hosoi dēmosieuousin) to sacrifice to
Asklepios and Hygieia twice a year[1] both on behalf of themselves and the patients (sōmatōn) that each of them treated (iasanto), for good fortune, the Council
shall decide: that the presiding committee (proedrous) (15) allotted to preside at the coming Assembly
shall put the matter on the agenda as an item of the sacred business and
submit the opinion of the Council to
the People, that it seems good to the Council
that the man who has been allotted at any time to serve as priest[2] . . . . . .
