Miltiades [son of Zoïlos of Marathon] having been king,^[1] dedicated (this). Deputies (paredroi): Dionysios son of Zoïlos of Marathon^[2] (5) Nikomachos son of Apollodoros of Perithoidai.

[1] I.e. the Athenian archon of this description. This Miltiades was honoured several times for his expenditure on public works, cf. athnames.org s.v. Miltiades. [2] This basileus appointed his brother as deputy, cf. IG II³ 4, 95. On the deputies of the archons see IG II³ 4, 42. For other dedications by the basileus and deputies, IG II³ 4, 95, 111. [3] The top of the monument still shows a cavity for the insertion of a votive.
