[1] On the choregic dedications from Ikarion see IG II³ 4, 497. This one, commemorating a victory in tragedy, is inscribed on two fragments of a triangular base, both now lost, that carried cuttings in the top for a tripod, the only firm example of such a dedication commemorating a victory in tragedy in the demes (IG II³ questions whether the full text of the inscription was originally preserved to the right and prints the ends of the lines in square brackets; we follow Csapo-Wilson, and earlier IG editors, in assuming that the first editor, C. D. Buck, Papers of the American School 5, 1886-1890, 86 no. 5, saw the full text). The victor is otherwise unknown (but cf. Humphreys, Kinship, 860-61), and the dating of the inscription is very approximate. Csapo and Wilson, 142, note that it is possible that the choregos here was a non-member resident of Ikarion, as provided for in IG I³ 254, though one would in that case expect him to have been given a demotic (or ethnic). There is, in fact, no firm evidence for a choregos in Ikarion who was not a deme member.
