[1] Textual note: Dow, Prytaneis, no. 114 associated this inscription with a fragment from a prytany decree honouring a treasurer from Phaleron; Agora XV identified that fragment as a separate inscription (Agora XV 289a) but erroneously retained the restoration of l. 7 as [Φαληρεῖς], "Phaleron," for which there is now no basis.

These three fragments derive from a prytany decree of the post-Sullan type, in which the Council permits the prytany and the aeisitoi ("those with perpetual dining rights," various magistrates and priests entitled ex officio to dine in the tholos every night) to make a dedication honouring their treasurer for successful completion of sacrifices on behalf of the community (see SEG 28.95 with notes). Agora XV dates the inscription to ca. 30–20 BC; Areios (ca. 17 BC) and Demeas (ca. 20 BC?) are the only known archons of that period whose names will fit the space available in l. 3 (Schmalz).
