[1] This funerary kioniskos for Apollonides bears a loutrophoros in relief beneath the inscription (cf. Grossman, Agora XXXV 228) indicating that the deceased died unmarried. His father Pythodoros may be identified with one of two other men of the same name from Erchia in the 3rd c. BC: the father of a councillor in 265/4 (IG II³ 1, 921, l. 34) or the secretary of the Council in 227/6 (IG II³ 1, 1139, ll. 43-45). Erchia (near modern Spata) was the deme of several prominent Athenians, including Isocrates and Xenophon, see AIO 593. On kioniskoi, see AIUK 3 (Fitzwilliam), no. 7, with notes.
