[1] This is one of over a hundred surviving altars from Athens dedicated to the Emperor Hadrian (r. 117-138 AD), as saviour, founder, and Olympios, on which see Benjamin, Altars of Hadrian 7 with notes. The altar has a heptagonal shape, with a longer side for the inscription. There is a fire pan for sacrifices on the top surface.
