[1] This is one of over a hundred surviving altars from Athens dedicated to the Emperor Hadrian (r. 117-138 AD), as saviour, founder, and Olympios, on which see Benjamin, Altars of Hadrian 7 with notes. The inscription was last seen at the house of the historian George Finlay on Agiou Andreou St. in the 19th century.
