[1] This marble lekythos (cf. no. 44) was purchased by the British Museum in 1924. A relief scene depicts a young warrior, Hippyllos, dressed in short-sleeved chiton and chlamys and carrying a helmet and shield shaking hands (dexiosis, cf. no. 26) with a young woman, Timokrite, perhaps his wife, while a further woman, Aristomache, stands facing them.
