[1] This is an allotment machine or kleroterion, similar to IG II³ 4, 106, 107, and 108. This machine contains just one column with twelve slots (corresponding to the twelve tribes?), and to the left a cavity for the tube for the balls. We do not know whether this machine was used in the court system (cf. note on IG II³ 4, 106) or e.g. for allotment to offices that involved determining a tribal sequence. The surviving inscription is on the epistyle; its first line was perhaps on the damaged moulding above. The formula is different from the others, and we should probably understand it as implying that the machine was taken out of use and dedicated (on the acropolis?) in 162/1 BC, perhaps commemorating the term of office of some (court?) officials of that year. NB the date is two years after two other machines, apparently in disuse, were inscribed on the back with prytany decrees (Agora XV 220, 221, 164/3 BC).
