. . . . . . son of – of Marathon (5) having won the torch-race^[1] dedicated (this), in the trainership (paidotribountos) of Meniskos (10) of Kolonai, in the assistant- trainership (hupopaidotribountos) of Athlos of Kolonai.^[2]

[1] On the ephebic dedications of the Hellenistic period see IG II³ 4, 357 with n. 1. The victory was probably in the torch-race at the Epitaphia (cf. IG II³ 4, 395, l. 2) or the Theseia (cf. IG II³ 4, 377). The trainers are the same as in IG II³ 4, 378, so the year might be the same. [2] This base has a cutting in the top that for inserting a dedicatory torch, and would have been fixed to a wall; cf. IG II³ 4, 375 and texts referenced there. This torch was perhaps dedicated in the Ptolemaion or the Diogeneion.
