[1] This is one of over fifty statue bases for the Emperor Hadrian (r. 117-138 AD) attested from Athens. The epithet "Olympios" indicates a date after 128/9 AD (F. Camia in A. Kouremenos, The Province of Achaea in the 2nd Century CE, 2022, 98-99). It probably indicates that the statue was erected to celebrate Hadrian's consecration of the Temple of Olympian Zeus in 132 AD (see IG II² 3290 with notes). T. Julius Herodianos of Kollytos was manager of the city (epimeltes tes poleos) around 124 AD (cf. IG II² 1103). Herodes is presumably a brother or son.
