. . . . . . . . . the punishments prescribed for him or it in the law; and [the court] shall impose 5 on him such additional penalty as may seem appropriate for him to pay, and shall confine him until he has paid it off; and if [he is a slave, the master?] shall be punished; and of the things that have been denounced, half shall go to the denouncer, half to the public treasury; and . . . shall bring legal proceedings about the 10 . . . the valuables and the . . . . . . if the court shall so decide, his moveables [shall be sold?], but if not,^[1] . . .

[1] These penalty clauses should derive from a law, cf. SEG 26.72, 23-28; IG II³ 1, 320 n. 3. The stone was inscribed on its reverse face (only a few letters are legible). Though this is the only law (or decree) from the period 352/1-322/1 preserving text inscribed on both sides, several other fragmentary laws have a reverse face smoothed as if to take a text (IG II³ 1, 429, 445, 449, see also IG II³ 1, 448). This suggests that some laws (not all, e.g. IG II³ 1, 320 is on a conventional stele), unlike decrees, might be inscribed in locations, e.g. on walls, where it was possible to walk around them and the reverse face was expected to be seen.
