        (5) managed the  . . .   with  . . .   all the rites  . . .    . . .  from his own resources  . . .   as many days  . . .   (10) arising  . . .    . . .  [and completed or continued or contributed also to?]  . . .   [being responsible for?] both the [preservation of the district]  and of those [citizens?] residing in it;
        and continues to say and do 
        (15) whatever good he can [on their behalf];
        and constructed for the security 
        of the district  . . .   a guard-house (pulōrion), spending his own resources on it;
        so, therefore, that those elected to
        (20) this office may know that 
        [the Eleusinians] and those [Athenians]  who reside at Eleusis give thanks
        to those who display love of honour (philotimoumenois) towards them,
