Transliterations on Places on

[1] Fragment b of this list of names of the late-2nd century BC was among the inscriptions acquired in Athens by Lord Elgin (cf. AIUK 4.1, no. 2). It was recognised in 1990 as belonging to the same inscription as a fragment in the Epigraphical Museum, Athens. Fragment b was thought by E. L. Hicks in his 1874 edition of the Greek Inscriptions in the British Museum to be from a catalogue of ephebes, the young men of the city who underwent an official year of physical and academic training. While this remains possible, the fragments may well be rather from a different type of list, for example of contributors to a public project.
