[1] This inscription is carved on one of the pteryges (flaps extending down from the cuirass) of a statue of a personification of the Odyssey (Ag. S 2039 with images), which stood in the Agora in the Roman period, along with SEG 29.192, a statue of the Iliad. The artist, Iason, is not otherwise known. For the artist's choice to sign himself as "the Athenian" rather than by his demotic, cf. IG I³ 506 and IG II³ 4, 460 with note.
