IG II³ 4 895 Date: early 3rd century AD

in olive crown Eisidotos son of Parrhasias of Phyle, being priest, dedicated (5) this.^[1] below crown Orthragoras son of Eisidotos of Phyle, key-bearer (kleidouchos).^[2]

[1] This plaque came from the Asklepieion at Eleusis, on which see IG II³ 4, 891 with note. The crown surrounding the priest’s name probably indicates that he made the dedication in thanks for having been honoured with a crown. The date is determined by prosopography (see Clinton, I Eleusis II p. 427). [2] On the keyholder (kleidouchos), see SEG 18.26 with notes. As usual, the post is held by a son of the priest.
