[1] This columnar grave marker (kioniskos) is from the funerary enclosure (peribolos) of Lysimachides of Acharnai, which was established after 338 BC, on the south side of the Street of the Tombs in the Kerameikos that was found to contain over thirty tombs, sarcophagi and cremations. A fine polygonal wall facing onto the street had a marble Molossian hound on its east corner, likely once duplicated on the west (Kerameikos P 670, images on Commons) and an unusual relief of two elderly couples at a funerary banquet above Charon rowing his boat to the underworld (Kerameikos P 692, images on Commons). This kioniskos may be for Lysimachides son of Lysimachos of Acharnai who was eponymous archon in 339/8 BC or perhaps a later family member (so APF 9480). The enclosure contains two other 4^th-century BC monuments with the single name Lysimachides (a marble lekythos SEMA 2118 and several cippi IG II² 12002a), suggesting that the name was held by several generations of the family. The peribolos also contains several other cippi, many of which are now too worn to recover their inscriptions (IG II² 12002a-c). For the peribolos, see J.
